Prime Minister Hussein Allawi’s advisor announced today, Saturday, that an Iraqi-American announcement will soon be issued regarding the schedule for the withdrawal of American forces from Iraq.
“Baghdad wants to return the relationship with the United States to what it was before 2014,” Allawi told the Washington Post.
He added, “The need for the international coalition ended with the defeat of ISIS gangs, and now the Iraqi forces are fully capable of dealing with the security file efficiently.”
Iraqi officials have confirmed on more than one occasion that there was an agreement on the withdrawal of American forces from Iraq, but American officials denied these statements, which makes the file somewhat ambiguous for the Iraqis.
