Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi ambassador to Iran, Naseer Abdul Mohsen Abdullah, stated that trade exchange between Iraq and Iran has exceeded $10 billion.
Abdullah’s remarks took place during his meeting with the governor of Semnan province in Iran, where he expressed hope that the figure will rise to $20 billion, Shafaq News reported.
The Iraqi diplomat expressed Iraq’s willingness to set up joint industrial facilities with Semnan province. He also confirmed that the initial executive steps for setting up these facilities are on the agenda.
Iran and Iraq may benefit from joint economic collaboration, particularly with the province of Semnan, in certain sectors, including mining, agriculture, and industry, according to Abdullah.
The Iraqi ambassador pointed out that more than 1,200 Iraqi students are enrolled in Iranian universities, noting that one of the main factors attracting Iraqi students to the province’s universities is Semnan’s close proximity to Tehran, the Iranian capital.
The people of Iraq and Iran have an extensive range of religious and cultural similarities, Abdullah added.
