Former US President and Republican candidate for the upcoming elections, Donald Trump, criticized current President Joe Biden’s opposition to Israeli strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities.
Trump said that Israel should “strike” Iran’s nuclear facilities.
Speaking in North Carolina, Trump addressed a question posed to President Joe Biden midweek about the possibility of Israel targeting Iranian nuclear facilities, saying, “They asked him that question, and the answer should have been: Hit the nuclear first, and take care of the rest later.”
Last Wednesday, Biden expressed his opposition to Israeli strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, the day after Iran fired about 200 missiles at Israel, in an attack that Tehran said was in response to Israel’s assassination of the Secretary-General of the Lebanese Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah, and the head of the political bureau of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), Ismail Haniyeh.
“The answer is no,” Biden told reporters when asked if he would support such a move by Israel. “The seven of us agree that the Israelis have the right to respond, but they should respond proportionately,” he added, referring to the G7 leaders.
Trump has so far remained silent on the recent escalation in the Middle East, issuing a scathing statement earlier this week, blaming Biden and his vice president, Kamala Harris, for the explosion of tensions.
