Supporters of former US President Donald Trump have called on him to use private protection instead of the Secret Service after he was subjected to a second assassination attempt within two months.
According to a report published by the British newspaper “Daily Mail”, Trump supporters have called on social media to use military veterans or even members of the “Hells Angels” motorcycle gang as alternative protection.
Among those who spoke out was Robert O’Neill, the former Navy SEAL known for killing Osama bin Laden, who wrote on the X website: “Maybe we should get private security for President Trump… for God’s sake.”
Many X users expressed their belief that Trump needs to beef up his security, expressing doubts about the Secret Service’s ability to adequately secure him, especially with Trump’s accusations by the federal government.
Some also pointed out that Trump has the financial means to purchase additional protection for himself and his family.
Among the ideas suggested were recruiting veteran volunteers or using members of motorcycle gangs, with one user noting that these people act quickly and without hesitation.
Others pointed out that Trump can afford private security, which makes him able to take extra measures to ensure his safety.
The discussion comes amid growing concerns about Trump’s security, as President Joe Biden has stressed the need to boost Secret Service resources to ensure better protection.
